Pantsuit Nation & Election 2016
Peninsula Voices for Change (PVC) began as a group of people who were shocked and disappointed after the 2016 presidential election results, and needed a source of comfort and a place to voice their frustrations and fear. A coffee group that came together through Pantsuit Nation evolved to a politically minded, focused group of people who decided that becoming organized and determined was the best way to make large-scale changes in the current government. "Peninsula Voices for Change" became our official name in February 2017. We nominated a board, formed task forces, and identified congressional district committees. As of June 2017, Peninsula Voices for Change is a registered 501(c)(4) non-profit organization.
What Does This Mean?
The main goal of PVC is to work toward a more progressive Virginia. One of the ways to reach this goal is to educate ourselves about each upcoming election, as well as their results. This includes state and local elections. PVC encourages all members to vote in ALL available elections.
In 2017, the following Virginia state elections will be occurring on NOVEMBER 7. Watch for blog posts regarding this information:
- Governor (Current Governor is Terry McAuliffe)
- Lt. Governor (Current Lt. Governor Ralph Northam)
- Attorney General (Current AG is Mark Herring)
- All 100 seats of the State House
- Williamsburg School Board (1 seat)
The game is rigged.
We can whimper, we can whine,
or we can fight back.
Me? I'm fighting back.
- Senator Elizabeth Warren
However, to continue our work we need your support! With a strong foundation we will continue to follow our mission statement to be action focused and advance policies of inclusion, educational programming, and respect for all as well as pushing Virginia towards a more progressive future! Your donations will help fund our goal of creating a civic education after school program and camp by the year 2019, pay off outstanding school lunch bills in local areas, as well as fund programming for our eight task forces and three congressional district committees.
A special thank you to our Founding Members for their contribution during the 2017-2018 year:
